Divisions amongst leaders both at local and national level, has been sighted as one of the obstacles hindering faster national development. Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja in most of her mobilization tours in the country side, has often called for team work amongst leaders if faster national development was to be realized.
Speaking after a mass conducted in her honour by Nyamigisa Catholic Parish in Masindi, the Prime Minister said the Parish Development Model project strategically established by Government, must be the rallying point for all leaders to deliver on the NRM Manifesto. ‘You leaders should also support government’s programmes by making personal contributions in your respective areas’, she said.
Masindi Municipality leadership brought to the attention of the Prime Minister, salient issues that need government’s urgent attention. These included the aging road construction equipment, lack of transport means and inadequate health facilities among others.
The Prime Minister listed plans government had for Masindi Municipality and the ongoing projects. ‘You should appreciate what government has given you so far and more is coming’, adding ‘the Parish Development Model has come to make things better’.
Earlier, Nyamigisa Catholic Parish conducted a thanks giving mass to honour her as the first Woman Prime Minister of Uganda. The mass was led the Parish Priest Rev. Dr. Birungi Joseph Akiiki. The service took place at Masindi Municipality council headquarters.
The Prime Minister pledged to support Kirasa and Biizi Catholic Churches with 200 iron sheets each. She was given an assortment of gifts which included two heifers.
While in Masindi, the Premier also presided over a cultural ceremony for the Abafumambo Clan members. Nabbanja who belongs to the same clan, called for unity and hard work amongst clan members. She was flanked by area Members of Parliament and local leaders. END
