NAKASEKE
The high level United Kingdom -United Arab Emirates and India tripartite trade, investment and tourism delegation has made a working visit to Kapeeka Industrial Park to explore avenues of investment in Uganda.
The delegation was led by the British High Commissioner to Uganda Her Excellency Lisa Chesney MBE and consisted of Indian investors and was taken on a guided tour of the industrial park.
The delegates also had a fruitful meeting with Gen. Salim Saleh at his Kirema Farm in Nakaseke District and are happy that Uganda has taken good steps in industrialization and are optimistic on investing in Uganda.
The team is in Uganda at the invitation of the Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja as a follow-up of the trade, investment and tourism meeting held in London in October last year.
Ambassador Rosa Malango, the Special Presidential Envoy for Tourism and Trade said that the visit to Kapeeka industrial park was meant to show the investors opportunities that are available in Uganda for them to exploit. “We want the investors to explore opportunities available in the country so that they can invest here,” said Malango.
Malango said that Uganda was prioritizing industrialization, agro processing, tourism and service sectors so that it can achieve its vision of expanding the economy 10 times to 500b Dollars.
Uganda’s High commissioner to UK Ambassador Nimisha Madhvani said that the meeting with Gen. Saleh was fruitful and explored avenues how Uganda can benefit from trade, investment and tourism. “This was an exposing experience for the United Kingdom and India to discuss with Gen. Saleh on joint partnerships between Ugandans and the foreign investors,” said Madhvani.
The British High Commissioner to Uganda Her Excellency Lisa Chesney said that the visit to Kapeeka was important for the delegation to explore investment potential in Uganda. “I’m glad that the delegation from Westminster Africa Business Association from UK is in Uganda to explore how best we can do business as the two sister countries,” said Chesney.
Laurence Robertson, the Chief Executive of the Westminster Africa Business Association from the UK and other delegates lauded Uganda for the good developmental initiatives.
The delegates that are from various companies and professions are here at the invitation of the Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja on behalf of the President and are exploring trade and business opportunities amidst tourism that will earn the nation instant money.
The discussions are focusing on agriculture, Tourism, Trade, Health, Education, Energy especially oil and gas, science, technology and innovation and information communication technology.
