Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has warned the business community against establishing fuel stations in the middle of urban centers to reduce risks of losing lives. This comes after one fuel truck and fuel station caught fire in the middle of Kisengwe Trading Center, a busy urban centre, in Kakumiro District on Wednesday.
Nabbanja who rushed to the scene of the accident, said that it was very dangerous to have fuel stations in busy urban areas.

“Our people are at risk of losing their lives and property because of the uncontrolled establishment of fuel stations in the country. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development must prevail over this otherwise we might continue losing people and property,” said Nabbanja.
The fire destroyed three motorcycles, electronics shop, a fueling station and five commercial buildings.
The Prime Minister promised to send a team of experts to assess the extent of damage caused by the fire from her office.
