KAMPALA
The Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Nabbanja Robinah has held bilateral talks with the South Korean Delegation and discussed the opportunities for Uganda for the forth-coming Korea-Africa Summit in Seoul.
The Korean delegation was led by the Executive Director for the 2024 Korea-Africa Summit Mr. Jung Kihong and also included the South-Korea Ambassador to Uganda H.E Park Sung-Soo and the meeting took place at the office of the Prime Minister in Kampala.
The Prime Minister briefed the South Korean delegation that the two sister countries enjoy cordial relations and several exchanges have been held.
Nabbanja said that South Korea has been and continues to support Uganda in its development agenda.
Nabbanja said that Uganda will benefit greatly from the Korea-Africa Summit because of the four strategic areas of emphasis for the summit.
“We have a lot of hope from the cooperation because Uganda needs technological transfer. Let me take the honour to request you to invite the South Korea President to come and visit Uganda to further cement our relations,” said Nabbanja.
Dunstan Balaba, the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister said that Uganda stands to benefit greatly from the Korea-Africa Summit and all relations for its development.
“The organization of villages into production units in South Korea have a lot for us as Ugandans. The village setting was set on production not politics,” said Balaba.
He said that the greening of all hill tops in South Korea is key on how Uganda can manage landslides which have claimed the lives of many people.
Balaba said that Uganda is sampling the village model in Kabarole, Luuka and Koboko but a lot still remains undone.
The Executive Director for the 2024 Korea-Africa Summit Mr. Jung, who led the delegation said that Uganda stands to benefit greatly from this global summit.
Mr. Jung Kihong said that Uganda plays a great role in world now that it is the Chair of the G77 +China and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
The 2024 Korea-Africa Summit is expected to take place in June this year and President Yoweri Museveni is expected to attend.
