The Prime Minister of Uganda Rt. Hon. Nabbanja Robinah has delivered the African Regional perspectives on SDG implementation at the ongoing High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development Goals in New York.

Nabbanja stressed the essential need for leadership and governance reforms, Financing and partnerships which is critical.

She said that Africa faces a USD 1.6 trillion financing gap by 2030 that needs to be addressed urgently.  She added that investing in youth, women, and digital transformation was urgent on top of health and social protection prioritization.

The Premier said that there was a need for economic transformation and job creation must be accelerated and the blue economy development which is essential.

“Let us rise to this defining moment by building a united, inclusive, and resilient Africa. Let us honour the voices from Kampala, and across the continent, by translating commitments into action,” she emphasized.  “Together, we can build the Africa and world we want which is prosperous, peaceful, and sustainable,” she added.

Later in the day, Nabbanja held productive Bilateral engagements with her counterpart from Finland H.E Petteri Orpo and discussed a number of issues for mutual benefit of Uganda and Finland.

Among the issues agreed on are digital infrastructure technological transfer, benching marking on Finland’s progress on SDGs implementation and education improvement.

The Premier also met Lord Collins of Highbury, the British Minister for Africa, UN, Commonwealth & Human Rights and the two discussed issues of bilateral interests between Britain and Uganda.

Nabbanja finally met Mr. Boris Titov, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation. The dual discussed matters of mutual interest between the two countries.
