In a powerful display of continental unity and ambition, Uganda officially opened the 11th Session of the
Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development at Speke Resort Munyonyo, reaffirming its
leadership in advancing the 2030 Agenda and Africa’s Agenda 2063.

The Prime Minister, Rt.Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, expressed the nations deep honor in hosting the high
level gathering and reaffirmed Uganda’s unwavering commitment to inclusive growth, climate justice and regional collaboration.

“Uganda is truly privileged to host this esteemed gathering of leaders and experts from across Africa and
beyond, we are united by a common purpose to accelerate progress towards a prosperous and sustainable Africa,” said the Premier.

This year’s forum was held under the theme, “Driving job creation and economic growth, sustainable, inclusive, science and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda and Agenda 2063,” which underscores the importance of harnessing innovation and data-driven approaches to foster long-term development.

The Prime Minister acknowledged the fruitful pre-Forum events that shaped the dialogue, which included sessions on climate justice, innovative financing, science and technology, youth inclusion and the moral responsibility of faith-based organizations.

“Africa must speak with one voice demanding climate justice and scaled-up adaptation financing,” the
Prime Minister stressed, referring to the COP29 preparatory dialogues. The critical role of youth, women
and parliamentarians in achieving sustainable goals was also spotlighted, with a strong emphasis on
inclusivity and intergenerational equity.

Nabbanja also praised the President for his visionary leadership in National development highlighting
that, under his guidance, Uganda has made great progress in promoting growth, social change and
economic strength.

“Under your guidance, Uganda has made significant strides in advancing inclusive growth, social
transformation and economic resilience,” said Premier.

The forum attracted a distinguished gathering, which included Heads of Government, Ministers, Former
Presidents, representatives from the private sector, Development partners, academia and civil society
leaders who are all united by a common goal to fast-track Africa’s sustainable development.

Concluding her address, the Prime Minister emphasized the critical importance of collective action in
achieving sustainable development across Africa. She highlighted that the challenges facing the continent
cannot be tackled by a single nation alone. Unity is essential for creating shared solutions and forging
partnerships that are both inclusive and impactful.

“This gathering is a testament to Africa’s determination to accelerate sustainable development, let us
reaffirm our commitment to inclusivity, equity and resilience as we shape a better future for our
continent,” said Nabbanja.

As Uganda continues to lead by example in the pursuit of sustainable development, the 11th ARFSD
marks a pivotal moment for Pan-African collaboration and visionary leadership towards a better, greener and more equitable future.
