Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja held engagements with several investors and stakeholders in Dubai at the sidelines of the World Government Summit as one way of entrenching Uganda-UAE business transactions.
The meetings took place at Al Habtoor Palace Hotel in Dubai and were graced by Uganda’s Ambassador to UAE Zaake Kibedi and technical officers from Uganda.
Nabbanja while addressing the investors assured them of peace and security saying that Uganda has a conducive environment for investments.
Among the investors the premier met include Oracle Digital World dealing digitization of services, Al Sahara group of companies, M/s ESSA Ghurair, DPO World who want to establish a dry port facility for handling cargo in Uganda and the prince of Malaysia among others.
Nabbanja said that Uganda has put in place several policies aimed at enhancing investment in the country.

“Uganda has the best investment environment where investors can repatriate their profits to wherever they want. We even offer tax incentives to all investors on top of free land where necessary,” said Nabbanja.
Several investors expressed their readiness to start business in Uganda but asked for support from officials handling them in the processing of documents and MoUs.
Zaake Kibedi, Uganda’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates is optimistic that the several meetings held at the sidelines of the world governments summit will yield a lot for the country.
“The engagements we have had during these few days will help us bring more investment in the country because Dubai and Kampala are enjoying good and cordial working relations,” said Kibedi.
The prime minister also made a working visit to one Smart Police station in Dubai where the public can register cases and police from the central police station take action.
The smart police station is not manned by anyone except complainants who go and register their issues by the use of machines and the police at the control point can engage with them online where need be.
The Smart Police station is meant to bring services closer to the people.
Dubai smart police station in the first police station that needs no interaction with any human. It offers 27 smart key services with 6 different languages such as reporting crimes and traffic incidents to other community services. The smart police station marks the future of policing around the world.
Nabbanja promised to send the Inspector General of Police to benchmark on how the smart Police station works so that Uganda can also follow suit.
The prime minister was accompanied by the minister for public service Muruli Mukasa, the minister for general duties in the office of the prime minister Kasule Lumumba, state minister for environment Beatrice Anywar, state minister for disaster preparedness and Refugees Aber Lillian and Uganda’s Ambassador to UAE Zaake Kibedi, Permanent secretaries and other technical officials from government.
The World Government Summit ran under the theme “Shaping Future governments”.
The summit aimed at exploring measures on how governments can work together to mutually benefit in trade, environment, health among others.
