NAMANVE

The UPDF Engineering Brigade has raised the perimeter wall around the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) stores located in Namanve under phase one of the renovation up to 1.75m.  The height of the wall is planned to be 2.4m.

When the brick works are completed to the planned height, a rail will be erected on the wall before razor wire will be installed to reinforce security at the premises.

The UPDF Engineering Brigade anticipates to complete casting of all columns in the wall by the next week.  Steel works are being prepared to raise the columns to the planned heights and once done, the casting of the columns will begin.

The progress report was shared by 2nd Lt. Chrispus Turyasingura of the UPDF Engineering Brigade to the OPM inspection team that toured the site led by Mr. Robert Lwasa, the Principal Systems Administrator in the Department of Finance and Administration.  Turyasingura  emphasized that to stabilize the ground, after the construction of the perimeter wall, the yard will be filled with murram, hardcore and blinding before laying of pavers.  He emphasized the need to provide adequate drainage around the yard to drain out the storm water that there maybe and provisions for this have been made as evidenced along the wall.
