KAMPALA
Prime Minister of Uganda, Rt. Hon. Nabbanja Robinah, recently held bilateral talks with an Italian delegation to explore ways for the two countries to collaborate and implement projects that will mutually benefit both nations. The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s office and was attended by various government Ministers and technical officials.

During the talks, several important issues were discussed, including the construction of the Hoima-Kinyara-Kafu power transmission line, which is expected to significantly improve Uganda’s energy infrastructure. Prime Minister Nabbanja highlighted the importance of supporting climate-resilient programs, emphasizing water supply chains and agriculture, which she identified as the backbone of Uganda’s economy. She also urged the Italian delegation to support tourism development and the growth of Uganda’s coffee processing plants, both vital sectors in Uganda’s overall economic strategy.

The Italian Ambassador to Uganda, HE Mauro Massoni, who introduced the delegation to the Prime Minister, praised the strong relationship between Uganda and Italy. He assured the Prime Minister that Italy would continue to support government projects and attract more Italian investors to Uganda. Massoni emphasized Italy’s commitment to fostering economic cooperation between the two countries.
Hon. Katumba Wamala, the Minister of Works and Transport, provided an update on the progress of road projects and other infrastructure developments, assuring the delegation that they were on track. Carlo Batori, the Deputy Director-General in Italy and Head of the Italian delegation, expressed great optimism about the future development of Uganda’s agriculture sector. He promised to mobilize additional funds to support various sectors, continuing Italy’s commitment to Uganda’s growth.
In addition to these discussions, Attorney General Kiryowa Kiwanuka assured the Italian delegation that the Ugandan government would do its best to ensure the timely implementation of the proposed programs. He promised to provide necessary advice and support to help the initiatives succeed.
The Premier thanked the Italian delegation for their visit and assured them of the Ugandan government’s full support in ensuring the success of all agreed-upon projects. She reiterated the government’s commitment to monitoring the progress of the initiatives and ensuring their positive outcomes.
