The State Minister for Luwero Triangle,  Hon. Alice K. Kaboyo, last week launched the distribution of iron sheets in Busoga sub-region. The Minister, who also doubles as the in charge of Busoga region launched the distribution of 9,468 iron sheets as support to beneficiaries among the 11 districts in the region.

“The Office of the Prime Minister, through the Ministry of Luwero Triangle is committed to work with all relevant stakeholders especially you leaders who are gathered here to ensure that Busoga Sub-region attains middle income status by 2026,” she told gathered local leaders and the beneficiaries.

Kaboyo added that it was possible for people to get out of poverty if they embraced government programmes/interventions that are aimed at increasing household incomes. She revealed how her Ministry through OPM had in the two previous financial years supported 282 Parish Community Associations (PCAs) which can be equated to the current government programme of Parish Development Model (PDM) with over 8bn Uganda shillings.

“Each PCA out of the funds mentioned above was supported with a one off revolving loan fund of  UGX. 30million with the aim of enabling associations to extend loans to parish level associations of Self Help Groups,” she added.

She also highlighted that the Ministry had in the last financial year extended over 500m for micro projects benefiting 57 groups as well as constructed 2-classroom blocks in three Primary Schools. The schools are Namayemba in Bugiri, Bwondha in Mayuge and Nababirye in Kamuli which costed UGX 840m.

The Minister also revealed that government had procured 52,746 hoes which will be distributed upon delivery.
