BUHUHIRA
Hon. Alice Kaboyo, Minister of State for Luwero Triangle, has commissioned a newly constructed three-classroom block at Buhuhira Primary School in Busongora North, Kasese District. The school holds historical importance in Uganda’s liberation story as one of the early education centers associated with the National Resistance Army.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by Hon. Godfrey Kabbyanga, Minister of State for ICT and National Guidance, Busongora North MP, Kitanywa Sowedi who is also the area Member of Parliament, as well as district leaders, representatives from the National Enterprise Corporation (NEC), and members of the local community.

The new classroom block was fully financed by the Ministry of Luwero-Rwenzori under the Office of the Prime Minister and executed by NEC Construction Works and Engineering Ltd, a subsidiary of the National Enterprise Corporation (NEC). The facility has been fully furnished with desks, chairs, and a water tank to improve the learning environment. Minister Kaboyo said the government’s continued investment in school infrastructure reflects its commitment to nurturing the next generation of Ugandans through education. She commended NEC for delivering quality work and for its role in national development.
Recalling her earlier visit to the school in October 2023, Minister Kaboyo expressed satisfaction with the progress made since then. She noted that resources such as iron sheets donated during the fundraising drive had been properly used. She urged the school administration to take care of the new facilities while also maintaining older structures. “Do not focus only on what is new,” she said. “Take care of the old classrooms, renovate and paint them, and involve the old students in mobilizing support to keep the school in good shape for future generations.”

In her address to the pupils, Minister Kaboyo encouraged both boys and girls to value education and believe in their potential. She reminded the girls that their voices matter and that they can be strong, confident, and intelligent. To the boys, she said that true strength lies in kindness, respect, and teamwork. “When boys and girls work together with friendship and purpose, great things happen,” she said. “Always do your best, be kind, and never stop believing in your dreams.”
Hon. Godfrey Baluku Kabbyanga, Minister of State for National Guidance, and Busongora North MP Kitanywa Sowedi thanked Minister Kaboyo for her continued support to the people of Kasese. They urged residents to back leaders who serve their interests and to embrace government programs such as the Parish Development Model and Emyooga to accelerate community development. Kabbyanga noted that the school holds a special place in the history of the NRA/M government.

Busongora North leaders thanked the government for its continued support and appealed for more assistance to other schools in the area. “In the same way you have supported this school, please keep up the spirit and extend it to our churches and other institutions,” the leaders said. “What you have done is truly special for our subcounty. When we presented the issue of this school, we also mentioned others such as Kyabarugira Primary School, Buhuhira Primary School, and Kihyo Primary School. We appreciate the Ministry of Education for constructing two classroom blocks and supporting the renovation of two more at Kyabarugira. However, there is still a school called Ntuha that urgently needs help.”
