The Minister of State for Luwero- Rwenzori Triangle, Hon. Kaboyo Alice has asked the NRA civilian veterans to embrace government programs such as the Parish Development Model to improve their welfare.
She said several projects are being undertaken to support the civilian veterans in the country.
The Minister made the remarks while meeting the NRA civilian veterans in Ibanda District on 30th January 2022.
She thanked the veterans for contributing to the peace prevailing in the country and asked them to focus on consolidating the achievements of the NRM Government.
“Veterans need to work towards the development of this country by ensuring that peace prevails. To do this, you need to go back to the basics of why you liberated this country and ensure that you guide the youth to make better decisions and choices that propel this country forward. For any nation to develop and transform, peace needs to prevail,” Hon. Kaboyo said.
The minister said the government is undertaking a verification process to ensure that the veterans are compensated. However, she called for transparency during the process.
The Senior Presidential Advisor on Veteran Affairs, Apollo Mabati, called upon the veterans to focus on serving the country in their capacity as freedom fighters. He also thanked the President for promoting peace and cooperation within the region.
The Presidential Advisor on Veterans Affairs in the Busoga sub-region, Florence Mutyaba requested the minister to support the veterans by ensuring that the presidential pledges made to them are fulfilled.
The Resident District Commissioner of Ibanda District, Basongoka Mary Kamaduka urged the residents to embrace government initiatives to spur the development in the country.
The Chairman of the Civilian’s Veteran Group, Gideon Musinguzi said the veterans are committed to supporting the NRM government, however, requested that the government fast track the compensation exercise for the veterans. Ends.
