The Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Nabbanja Robinah has assured teachers that the NRM government is committed to improve the welfare of all the teachers.
“You are nation builders. You work with limited resources but continue to serve with commitment. Government remains committed to improving your welfare and providing the support you need as we have already improved salaries for Science teachers. Even Arts teachers will be considered once our resource envelope improves,” noted Nabbanja.

Nabbanja made the remarks while presiding over Centenary celebrations for Kinoni Integrated Primary School in Rwampara District over the weekend.
The Premier congratulated Kinoni Integrated Primary School upon the 100 years of existence—a century of educating and nurturing generations of Ugandans and beyond.
“A centenary is not just a number—it is a testimony of endurance, service, and impact,” said Nabbanja.
She said that when Kinoni Integrated Primary School was established in 1922 when Uganda was still under colonial rule.
She noted that the founders—missionaries, local leaders, and education pioneers understood the power of education in transforming lives.
“The NRM government under the wise and able leadership of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has prioritized education as a key pillar of our development agenda. Through the Universal Primary Education program (UPE), USE, we have expanded access, reduced illiteracy, and empowered millions of Ugandan children,” said Nabbanja.
She lauded Kinoni Integrated Primary School for consistently performing well, producing doctors, engineers, teachers, lawyers, and public servants and leaders.
“I want to encourage the current learners to take your studies seriously. Your future is in your hands. We are here to support you, but your effort is what will carry you through,” she said.
She thanked parents for entrusting their children to this institution and appealed to them to work hand-in-hand to instill discipline, patriotism, and moral values in the children.
Nabbanja told the gathering that the Government of Uganda was committed to investing in school infrastructure and teacher training, supporting science and ICT learning in schools, and enhancing inspection and accountability for better performance.
“I have taken note of the development challenges raised here today and I will follow up with the relevant Ministry to ensure these are addressed in a phased and sustainable way,” she said.

The Bishop of Ankole Diocese Rt. Rev. Prof. Fred Sheldon Mwesigwa asked the Government to increase funding to the education sector so as to improve the Human Capital as a resource.
“The money being sent to schools in not enough. Government ought to increase the releases it makes to schools for better performance,” said Bishop Mwesigwa.
Ambassador Francis Butagira, one of the old students of this school lauded the Premier for her dedicated service to the nation and the love she has for President Yoweri Museveni.
The school administration informed the Premier that the building she commissioned requires government support to accommodate the increasing numbers of pupils at the school and also provide a conducive learning environment.
