The Minister of State for Northern Uganda, Hon. Grace Freedom Kwiyucwiny, held a meeting with a delegation of Legislators from the Democratic Republic of Congo(DRC) on 22nd February, 2022. Hon. Kwiyucwiny thanked the MPs from DRC for the continued good relationship with Uganda. She implored the legislators from Congo and the local leaders of the Ugandan border districts to support the Presidents through implementation of policies for development. “The local leaders from Uganda and DRC should promote peace and development and denounce insecurity,” she said. Hon. Kwiyucwiny appealed to the legislators to go back to the ground and ensure that the good relationship is real.
The DRC delegation was led by Mr Tchedya Patay Raymond who thanked the Government of Uganda for deploying the UPDF army in DRC to fight rebels that have been destabilising the region. He said that they are grateful to the Ugandan Government for the infrastructure, such as roads that will boost trade across the borders.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of State for Trade Hon. Harriet Ntabazi, Members of Parliament from districts in West Nile region bordering Congo and technical staff from the Office of the Prime Minister .
