The State Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister for the Luwero Triangle and Rwenzori Region, Hon. Alice Kaboyo has encouraged the youth in Luwero, under their umbrella organization, Greater Luwero Musicians Association Ltd, to create music that educates, motivates, and builds the nation.
Hon. Kaboyo delivered this message while continuing her initiative to promote and support young talents across the greater Luwero region. This initiative aims to identify, nurture, and showcase the immense potential of the youth in music and the creative arts where she emphasized addressing important issues such as health, environmental conservation, and the promotion of Uganda’s beauty.
The Minister expressed her belief in the transformative power of music to shape lives and uplift communities. She encouraged all young musicians to embrace their talents, as they are valuable gifts that hold the potential to inspire change.
Musicians under the umbrella of the Greater Luwero Musicians Association Ltd called on Hon. Alice Kaboyo to support them in developing their music and talents, helping them earn a living from their abilities.
In their message, delivered through Mayor Moses Sebalamu, they requested for support for the construction of a modern stage for performances, the acquisition of modern equipment, and the installation of a public address system to improve the quality of their work.
They also asked the Minister to help them construct a studio with modern equipment for high-quality audio and video production, as well as to support their SACCO with funding to enable them to develop financially.
During their engagement with the Minister in Luwero, the Secretary of the Luwero Musicians Association, Ssaazi Moses, appealed to the Minister for support in acquiring a stage, modern equipment, and a studio to help develop the talents of the youth.
Ssaazi expressed gratitude towards Mayor Moses Sebalamu for collaborating with the musicians in Luwero to help them move towards their goal, as well as to the office of the RDC, UNMF, President Kenzo, the management of GLMA, and other individuals who have supported them.
The Buganda Youth MP, Agnes Kirabo, added her voice to that of the youth, requesting the Minister for financial support. She also challenged the youth to believe in themselves so they can overcome any challenges they may face in life.
The Assistant RDC in Luwero, Annet Nabukenya, appreciated bringing together young talents, allowing many of them to discover their abilities. Under the initiative to promote young talents across the greater Luwero region, Hon. Alice Kaboyo stressed that their mission is not only to provide a platform for these talents but also to establish sustainable avenues for growth.
“With this vision in mind, we are working towards creating a state-of-the-art music studio that will serve as a hub for creativity, skill development, and professional production,” she emphasized.
The Minister delighted the youth at the function when she revealed the ongoing initiative and plans to establish a music studio, emphasizing that they aim to provide the tools and platforms needed for growth and success.
“With dedication, hard work, and belief in yourselves, you can achieve remarkable success and make a lasting impact both locally and globally,” she added. She also pledged to construct a football stadium for them.
However, as we mark HIV/AIDS Awareness Week, Hon. Alice Kaboyo urged all young people to take charge of their health and protect themselves against HIV by prioritizing their well-being. She encouraged them to make informed choices, practice abstinence, use protection consistently and correctly, avoid risky situations, and engage in regular testing, as it is essential for knowing their status and accessing early treatment when necessary.
“HIV is preventable, and by staying informed and vigilant, we can protect ourselves and those we care about. Let us also work to eliminate stigma and support individuals living with HIV, ensuring they receive the care and respect they deserve. Together, we can build a healthier, stronger, and HIV-free generation,” she noted.
At the end of the event, Hon. Alice Kaboyo presented awards to musicians and encouraged them to continue developing their talents. Attended by a diverse audience, including politicians, musicians, and local residents, the event highlighted the collective commitment to supporting young talent in Greater Luwero. Hon. Kaboyo’s pledges and remarks underscored a focused effort to create opportunities for the region’s youth.
