UGANDA ATTENDS THE AFRICA SECOND REVIEW MEETING ON THE GLOBAL COMPACT FOR MIGRATION

Uganda as a member of the Global Compact for Migration (GCM) has attended the second conference on the review of the Global Compact for safe, orderly and regular migration that took place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from 8^th -10^th October 2024.

The review conference was aimed at providing a platform for Member States under the Global Compact for Migration to assess achievements, gaps, priorities and challenges since the first review in 2021.

The delegation from Uganda at the review conference was led by Hon. Esther Davinia Anyakun, State Minister for Labor, Industrial Relations and Employment, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development, Mr. Aggrey Kibenge and the Commissioner Refugees, Mr. Patrick Okello.

At the conference, Uganda assumed Chair of the GCM for the next two years.
