African Leaders have asked the World Health Organization (WHO) and the European Corporate Council on Africa and the Middle East (ECAM Council) to enhance cooperation for the development of the continent.
The leaders who include the President of Botswana H.E Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi and Uganda’s Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Nabbanja Robinah, made the call during the European Corporate Council on Africa and the Middle East (ECAM Council) annual conference held in New York at the sidelines of the United Nations General assembly.
President Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi of Botswana says that Africa needs enhanced cooperation will help African countries deal with current health challenges.
Masisi said that development partners need to cooperate with governments in Africa to foster health care management.
Uganda’s Prime Minister who was a special guest at the 6th ECAM conference said that Uganda has made significant strides in aligning her development agenda with the 2030 Agenda, ensuring that no one is left behind in pursuit of a more inclusive and sustainable future.
Nabbanja said that development partners should support African countries to boost health, education and clean energy promotion.
Nabbanja acknowledged the contribution of ECAM and other partners in improving services especially in health, energy and education.
The director general of the World Health Organization (WHO) Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, assured African countries of United Nations’ commitment to develop the capacity of African countries in the management of health issues.
Kamel Ghiribi, the Executive Chairman of the ECAM Council said that African countries need to have the will and vision to achieve its intended objectives.
Edward Mermelstein, the New York City Commissioner for International Affairs said that they were ready to cooperate with Africa especially in the field of climate adaptation.
The European Corporate Council on Africa and the Middle East (ECAM Council) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that promotes collaboration between leaders from Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

The premier was accompanied by the Health Minister, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng to the conference to ensure that Uganda benefits from health interventions in ECAM.
The ECAM Council’s mission is to develop long-term partnerships and investments in areas like education, healthcare, infrastructure, and research. The ECAM Council also aims to promote a deeper understanding of the cultural and historical factors that influence business relations between nations.
