NAMANVE
The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) has today handed over the National Emergency Stores located in Namanve Industrial Park to the UPDF Engineering Brigade for renovation. The stores, which house both food and non-food relief items for response to emergencies such as disasters to vulnerable persons and communities needed a facelift for better humanitarian response, delivery and coordination.
Led by the Principal Systems Administrator in OPM, Mr. Robert Lwasa, who represented the Permanent Secretary and the Under Secretary, Finance and Administration who take lead on this renovation project, the OPM delegation took the UPDF Engineering Brigade on a site tour before the handover.
The UPDF delegation was led by Maj. Eng. George Ogwang, the Operations Officer and Project Manager Central.
Maj. Ogwang while handing over the site plan ad designs to the OPM Delegation revealed that the project will be undertaken in two phases; the first will involve erecting of the perimeter wall, raising and paving of yard as well as a facelift of the store main structure.
The second will include extension of the parking yard as well as drainage improvement.
Lwasa asked the UPDF Engineering Brigade to expedite the assignment considering the time constraint and ensure that the project is delivered in time and that there is value for money. He asked them to ensure that highest standard of work is delivered on the project.
Lwasa was accompanied by Ms. Susan Akuma, Principal Assistant Secretary in charge of Transport
The site handover was witnessed by the Inventory Management Officers of OPM, Mr. Titus Watmon and Mr. Steven Mpakibi.
