Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja met with Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, in Nairobi yesterday.

The Prime Minister, who was accompanied by the Minister of State for Internal Affairs, Gen. David Muhoozi, the Minister of State for Finance, Amos Lugoloobi, and the Director General of the Uganda Investment Authority, Robert Mukiza, held talks with Mudavadi at the Cabinet Secretariat.

During the meeting, Nabbanja and Mudavadi commended the warm and longstanding bilateral relations between Uganda and Kenya, underlining collaboration in areas such as regional integration, education, energy, security, and infrastructure development — including flagship projects like the Standard Gauge Railway.

“Our two nations share not only borders, but also history, culture, economic aspirations, and a common vision for regional prosperity,” Nabbanja said. “The flow of goods and services across our borders demonstrates the strength and importance of our commercial ties, which continue to benefit millions of people in both countries.”

The Prime Minister arrived in Kenya on Tuesday for a two-day working visit aimed at engaging diplomatic missions and development institutions that are non-resident in Uganda but serve the country from Nairobi.

Nabbanja also briefed her counterpart on Uganda’s Tenfold Growth Strategy, which seeks to expand the country’s economy from USD 61.3 billion to USD 500 billion by 2040.

“To achieve this qualitative leap into upper-middle-income status, we must expand strategic partnerships,” Nabbanja noted. “My engagement with diplomatic missions and development institutions here is, therefore, a deliberate effort to mobilise additional partnerships to support this transformation agenda.”

She reaffirmed Uganda’s commitment to strengthening bilateral collaboration with Kenya, adding: “Together, we can build a prosperous East African Community for generations to come.”
