The Prime Minister Rt. Hon Robinah Nabbanja has called upon the public to utilize government projects to enhance development.

The Premier made the remarks during the commissioning ceremony of Mpanga Bridge in Kamwenge District on Saturday.

The Ugx 9 billion Bridge is 30 meters long and 7 meters wide and connects Kabambiro Town Council to Kamwenge Town. The construction of the bridge was supervised by Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA).

The Premier commended UNRA for ensuring quality and value for money during the construction of the 120-year life span bridge. she said the NRM government is committed to improving service delivery through infrastructural development and asked that all the presidential directives be implemented.

The Prime Minister said the bridge will reduce the cost of doing business by easing access to markets for agricultural products.

She thanked the locals for supporting the NRM government and urged them to embrace the parish development model.

The Minister of State for Transport, Hon. Fred Byamukama said the newly constructed bridge will improve connectivity in the area which will attract trade and tourism opportunities.

The Director of Roads and Bridges, Eng Samuel Muhoozi, who represented the UNRA Executive Director Allen Kagina, said the Mpanga Bridge was part of the government’s efforts to extend services, reduce the cost of doing business, ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians to realise social-economic transformation under the National Development Plan III.

The function was also attended by the Deputy Attorney General, Hon. Kafuuzi Jackson, the area members of parliament and government officials among others. End.
