Workers constructing the Perimeter wall at the OPM Stores

Following the handover of the site to the UPDF Engineering Brigade last week on Tuesday, renovations work at the OPM Stores in Namanve commenced.  Construction of the perimeter wall is the first activity the Engineering Brigade undertook.  The foundation of the perimeter wall is being constructed using hardcore with the height marching the level of the main road adjust to avoid run off water as explained by the Supervising Engineer on ground, Mr. Muhwezi.

Pillars to guide the construction works have been erected at different points at the premises with two levels marked including the main road level and the level of the foundation of the current main structure of the store. Maj. Eng. Geroge Ogwang informed the OPM team during an inspection exercise to ascertain commencement of the work that the intention is to raise the level of the yard by laying hardcore and gravel before paving the yard to enable the ground handle the heavy traffic.

He added that once the yard is completed, the floor of the main structure of the store will also be reinforced and raised.
