The Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda has held a meeting with a delegation from Qatar Chamber of Commerce to discuss investments in the sector of Agriculture. The meeting took place at the office of the Prime Minister in Kampala on Thursday.

The Prime Minister commended the delegation for honoring President Museveni’s invitation to make a follow up visit and also undertake investments in Uganda, while he was in Qatar, early this year.

He also applauded the team for expressing interest and desire to undertake business and investments in Uganda and pledged government’s support towards the entire process.

“This is great news and our expectations are high. You are welcome to do business in Uganda. As government, we will support you in undertaking concrete projects and investments for our mutual benefit,” Rugunda said.

The Prime Minister also thanked the technical team from Uganda that has been working with the delegates for ensuring that the visit and the meeting take place.

The Leader of the Qatar business delegation, His Excellency, Muhammad Al-Kuwar, highlighted that Uganda has a favorable environment for investment.

He said Qatar is searching for strategic partners like Uganda to invest with in the food Processing hub. The Hub will be located in Qatar, and will be a manufacturing and processing company of agricultural products, which products will be supplied by Uganda as raw material. This will enhance Value addition and also boost Uganda’s value and market for agricultural produce.

“We are comfortable to do business with Uganda because the team is cooperative with a supportive government,” Muhammed said.

Muhammad said Qatar also looks forward to undertaking business in areas of real estate development, Islamic banking and mineral development in Uganda.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of State in charge of Investment, Evelyn Anite, the Minister of General Duties, Karooro Okurut and other government officials.
