Dr Rugunda who launched the book thanked the author, Robert Ssempa for taking off time to document the cardinal’s life. ‘The Cardinal has lived an exemplary life which will be used as a reference point to many and will also be used as a learning tool to the nation’, he said.
The Premier described the Cardinal as a simple, peaceful man who puts others above self and values the dignity of everyone as highlighted in the book. He also saluted the celebrant for his humility, broad- mindedness demonstrated by his ability to work with all kinds of people including politicians and people of different religious beliefs and his love for the young people among others.
“I salute and congratulate you Cardinal upon putting others before yourself. You have groomed a number of people in the country including politicians and other leaders to play roles in different capacities that make Uganda a vibrate country”, the Premier said.
Rugunda also noted that the Cardinal makes calculated comments on politics whenever the situation demands. ‘When he chooses to make such a statement it always has a lot of relevance and cannot be ignored’, he said.
The Chief Celebrant His Eminence Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala who was overwhelmed with joy, expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister and the people for turning up in large numbers to celebrate his birth day and to witness the book launch.
