The donation for the ICT equipment is a fulfillment of a pledge earlier made by the Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and was earlier delivered on 24th September 2018 to the OPM Stores.

During the same ceremony, the Chinese Community donated over UGShs78million and relief items towards the survival of the Bududa landslides victims. The ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Disaster Preparedness, Hon. Eng. Hillary Onek and the Hon. Musa Ecweru, State Minister for Disaster Preparedness and Refugees

Led by the Chinese Enterprise Chamber of Commerce, a number of Chinese companies donated relief in form of cash, maize flour, cooking oil and beddings among others, towards Bududa landslides survivors.

The Ministers acknowledged and appreciated the contribution from the People’s Republic of China especially during these times of need.  They ministers noted that Uganda received food (rice) from China in 2017 when famine was experienced in some districts of Uganda following the prolonged drought.

The Ministers also highly commended China for being for one of the only two countries that honored their pledges during Uganda’s Solidarity Summit for Refugees held in June 2017.
