BY DOREEN NASASIRA- The Prime Minister of Uganda, Dr Ruhakana Rugunda has said the government aims to vaccinate everybody against coronavirus. He noted that the government through the ministry of health is already rolling out the vaccine in the country starting with the most vulnerable groups of people.
The Premier made the remarks at the Office of the Prime Minister in Kampala after receiving his first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on Friday.
The Prime Minister saluted the health workers for their efforts and service in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic and tasked the media to sensitize the public about the benefits of vaccination and observing the standard operating procedures for COVID-19.
He noted that vaccination is a protection mechanism that the NRM government has embraced since 1986 as a key priority program and it has been successful in the country.
“I want you to be great supporters of vaccination programs because they protect us from diseases. They help us to grow,” Prime Minister Rugunda said.
The Premier also called upon the public to combine efforts in the fight against Covid-19 by observing the standard operating procedures and getting vaccinated.
Other key government officials who took their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine included; the Minister of General Duties in the Office of the Prime Minister, Hon. Mary Karooro Okurut, the Minister of State for Karamoja Affairs, Hon. Kizige Moses, and the Government Chief Whip, Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa.
