A project to support South Sudanese refugees and host communities in Northern Uganda was launched in Adjumani district on 23rd February 2017 by the 1st Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of government business in parliament together with the Minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees, Hon. Eng. Hilary Onek.

This project called the “Programme for Refugee Settlements in Northern Uganda” is worth 10 million Euros with Support from the European delegation in Uganda and it will last a period of three years benefiting both refugees and host communities in the districts of Arua, Adjumani and Kiryandongo.

Both the Deputy Prime Minister and Hon. Minister for Refugees commended the donor community for the support extended to Uganda in managing the refugee situation and that this project will go a long way in addressing the protection needs of the refugees under the three components of WASH, livelihoods and skilling of the youths as a way of imparting skills in the area of vocational skills training.

This project will be implemented by the Austrian Development Agency, the Belgium Technical Cooperation and the NGO consortium led by Danish Refugee Council.
